Government has sought information of students aged 12 to 17 studying in Dhaka metropolitan area for jabbing them with Covid-19 vaccine.

The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) has directed the educational institutions of Dhaka city to provide students’ information by October 19. DSHE director general Syed Md Golam Faruk signed a letter in this regard on Thursday.

The letter said that all educational institutions of Dhaka metropolis have to fill the information of these students in an Excell table and send it to [email protected] through e-mail by October 19.

Mentioning the urgency of the table, DSHE has asked schools and colleges to fill in the students’ name, 17-digit birth-registration number, institutions’ name, code of the institution, date of birth and mobile number of the guardian on the excel sheet in English.

A total of 120 students were initially jabbed with Pfizer vaccine on Thursday in Manikganj as a trial run. The students will be monitored for 10 to 14 days in advance, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said.

Covid-19 vaccination drives have been ongoing in the country since February this year. Until October 14, however, the vaccine was only available to adults.

Following the vaccination of children under 18 in several countries, the vaccine for students was also introduced in Bangladesh.
