All coaching centres across the country will remain closed from September 12 till October 2 ahead of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations, said Education Minister Dipu Moni.
The education minister made the remarks while addressing a press conference at her ministry in the secretariat on Monday.
The Secondary School Certificate (SSC), Dakhil and SSC/Dakhil (Vocational) exams will start on September 15 next, she informed.
"The examinations were scheduled to be held on June 19. But it was postponed due to devastating flood in Sylhet, Mymensingh and northern areas of the country. Now it will begin on September 15," she said.
This year the number of SSC examinees is reduced by 2,21,386 to 20,21,868 which was 22,43,254 in 2021’s examinations, she said at the press conference.
“The number of examinees has reduced this year because the number of irregular candidates has reduced,” the minister said.
She explained that the 2021’s SSC and equivalent examinations were held on short syllabuses and three subjects which increased the pass rate.
“That is why the number of our irregular candidates is fewer this year,” she said.
While replying to the queries of the newsmen, she said, “In future, exams will be postponed in only those specific regions to be affected by natural calamities, and exams in the remaining areas will take place as per schedule.”
Due to the global pandemic, the marks and time of the exams were reduced by the government.
This year the number of exam centres is 3,790 at 29,591 educational institutions.
Like 2021 this year the examinations will be held on short syllabus and time.
The examinations will start at 11:00am instead of 10:00am.
This year, the examinations will be held for two hours instead of three hours.
Some 15,99,711 students will sit for the examinations under nine general education boards while 2,68,495 will take the exams under Madrassah Board and 1,63,662 students will take the exams under the Technical Education Board.
All examinees have been requested to enter their respective exam halls 30 minutes before the starting time and no one except the exam secretary will be allowed to carry cellular phones.
The SSC and its equivalent examinations, under all the education boards, scheduled to begin on June 19, were postponed due to the flood situation in the country.
