7 Covid deaths in 24 hours

Bangladesh registered seven more deaths in 24 hours from Covid-19 till 8am Friday. The total number of deaths has reached 27,854 with the latest figure.

The country recorded 305 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,569,162, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Friday.

For the latest data, the current positivity rate stands at 1.71 percent and the overall positivity rate is 15.21 percent.

In addition, the death rate now stands at 1.78 percent in the country, added the release.

Among the seven deceased, four were men and three were women. Of the deceased, three were from Dhaka and one each from Khulna, Rajshahi, Chattogram and Barisal division.  

A total of 17,811 samples were tested across the country till 8am Friday. 

Some 271 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. A total of 1,532,966 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 97.69 percent.

As of Friday 4,999,543 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 246,441,456 have been infected so far, according to the Worldometer.
