17 die of Covid in 24hrs

Bangladesh registered 17 more deaths in 24 hours from Covid-19 till 8am Saturday. The total number of deaths has reached to 28,209 with the latest figure.

The country recorded 9,614 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,674,230, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday.

The current positivity rate stands 28.02 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 13.86 percent.

In addition, the death rate now stands at 1.68 percent in the country, added the release.

Among the 17 deceased, 11 were males and six were females. Of them, 11 were from Dhaka, two each from Khulna and Chattogram and one each from Barisal and Mymensingh division. 

A total of 34,311 samples were tested across the country till 8am Saturday. 

Some 482 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. A total of 1,556,079 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 92.94 percent.

As of Saturday, 5,604,886 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 347,310,571 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
