WZPDCL’s training course creates skilled manpower

State-owned West Zone Power Distribution Company Limited (WZPDCL) is working to develop skilled manpower in power sector in order to build a developed country. To this end, WZPDCL has arranged ‘Consumer electrician trade course’ and already has completed training of the second batch. 

After completing the training programme, WZPDCL distributed free tools box and certificate among the trainees at a ceremony on Saturday at WZPDCL training institute in Khulna. Power Secretary Dr Sultan Ahmed was chief guest there. Among others, WZPDCL Managing Director Engineer Mohammad Shafique Uddin, Joint Secretary of Power Division Mohammad Nurul Alam, Deputy Secretary Mohammad Nazmul Abedin was special guest at the function presided over Shaheen Akhter Parvin, Executive Engineer of WZPDCL’s training institute.

Power Secretary Dr Sultan Ahmed said, “It is a good initiative. I hope the technicians, who got training here, will properly apply their knowledge in practical field and serve the people.” Engineer Mohammad Shafique Uddin urged to the technician to obey the safety rules in electrical work.

“We want to create skilled manpower through training which will ultimately enrich the country. The unemployed youths are being benefited through the programme and people are also getting skilled electricians in the rural areas,” he said. 

He said currently electronic device such as TV, Refrigerator, Rice cooker and AC has reached in rural areas. Consumer electrician trade course is very essential for maintenance of these devices. For this reason WZPDCL has arranged the course which will help to develop skilled manpower in the country. 

In the training, Mohammad Suman Morol took first place, Md. Shukur Jamadar second and Md Yasin Sheikh took third position. However, they also achieved ‘B’ and ‘C’ category license from office of the Electrical Adviser and Chief Electric Inspector. 

State-owned West Zone Power Distribution Company Limited (WZPDCL) has decided to observe Mujib Barsho, the birth centenary of Father of the Nation, as service year. To this end, various initiatives have already been taken. The training programme is one of them. 

According to WZPDCL, the company has started skilled manpower development programme to observe the ‘Mujib Barsho’. As part of this plan WZPDCL will arrange 27 batches with 2 months duration within 5 years. Total 810 peoples will get free training by this programme. Of these, 210 people will get this training by ‘Mujib Barsho’.
