The Bangladesh Awami Jubo League has taken an innovative programme to celebrate the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

It is inviting people of any age to express their emotions and love to Bangabandhu by writing a letter to him addressing ‘Dear Bangabandhu’ in maximum 150-word.

A book styled ‘Dear Bangabandhu’ will be published with the best 100 letters, Jubo League Chairman Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash and General Secretary Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil said in a joint statement. Besides, all the letters will be on display at the part office - 23 Bangabandhu Avenue, Dhaka.

March 20 is the deadline of sending the letters to the party office either by postal service or email: juboleaguecentralcommittee@gmail.com.

Bangabandhu was born in the village of Tungipara under the then Gopalganj Subdivision (now district) of the then Faridpur District on March 17, 1920.

He was assassinated by a handful of army renegades as part of a larger national and international political conspiracy hatched by anti-liberation forces in the pre-dawn hours of August 15 in 1975.

They murdered in cold blood every member of his family except his daughters Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana, who by fortune alone were abroad at that time.

Sheikh Hasina is the current Prime Minister of Bangladesh.
