Home Minister to policemen

The Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Wednesday urged the policemen to perform their duties with honesty, sincerity and devotion in the journey to democracy.

He made this remarks while addressing at the police memorial day discussion meeting at the Mirpur Police Staff College auditorium in the capital Dhaka.

Police Memorial Day-2023 is being celebrated with respect and love for the policemen who sacrificed their lives in the service. Marking the day, Asaduzzaman remembered the policemen who laid down their lives with floral tributes.

He said , "Police force will be a fellow passenger in the march of democracy. The home boss  called on the policemen to perform their duties with honesty, sincerity and devotion. The police force has been working with the spirit of independence since the birth of the country.

The home minister said, "We have not been able to root out the militants, but efforts are going on." Everything is under control. Our intelligence agencies, security forces, police, RAB are working with sincerity. As a result, we have been able to suppress the terrorists who arose internationally, who wanted to make the country ineffective.

In response to a question regarding the political situation before the elections the Home Minister said that when elections come in the country, all political parties are in the field. "The political situation has not heated up yet. Everyone is doing their own thing. I think there is no reason to get heated.

While presiding over the function, Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun said, "In 2022, 291 police personnel died while on duty while maintaining law and order at various times in the last one year.”

Paying tribute to all those who gave their lives, he further said, “Law and order forces are working as vigilantes to protect the country from militancy and terrorism.'

Bangladesh Police has been observing the 1st March Memorial Day since 2017 to honor the policemen killed in the line of duty and due to clashes with terrorists since 1993. Every year on Memorial-Day the families of those who died that year are honored.

Meanwhile, the senior secretary of the public security department of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Aminul Islam Khan, SB Chief and Additional IGP Monirul Islam, Director General of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) M Khurshid Hossain, Dhaka Range DIG Nurul Islam, Tourist Police Chief Habibur Rahman, DMP Additional Commissioner (Admin) AKM Hafiz Akhter, CTTC Chief Md. Asaduzzaman and senior police officers were also present.
