Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given directives to her party men to work for the betterment of the lot of the common people. She also urged the leaders and activists of ruling Awami League and its affiliated bodies to stand by the farmers and take proper steps and measures to alleviate their sufferings.

Sheikh Hasina also said Awami League always works for the welfare of the people. Now is the time for the leaders and activists of the party to help farmers in their distress. The party activists should take steps right now so that the peasants do not have to face difficulties in harvesting paddy during the Boro season.

Following the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also the AL president, the ruling Awami League (AL) and its associate bodies have taken steps to help the farmers in harvesting their Boro paddy during the ongoing season, said party sources.

The leaders asked the party activists to go to the villages to help the farmers during their pressing time, the party sources added.

As per the directives of the AL chief, Jubo League, the youth body of the AL, and Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), its student organisation, have taken various programmes to help the farmers.

The high-ups of the AL, Jubo League and BCL have instructed their leaders and activists in the grassroots levels to help the farmers so that they could harvest paddy on time, avoiding possible natural disasters.

Following orders from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash, Chairman of Jubo League, and its General Secretary Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil on Tuesday called upon the organisation leaders and activists across the country to come forward to help the farmers in harvesting and threshing their paddy.

“The Boro season this year saw the bumper yield of paddy across the country. But many farmers are in trouble with harvesting paddy due to intense heat and labour shortage,” says a press release signed by Mustafizur Rahman Biplab, the office secretary of the organisation.

BCL President Saddam Hossain and General Secretary Sheikh Wali Asif Inan on Monday urged all their activists to help the farmers across the country to harvest their paddy on time.
