Minister for Health and Family Welfare Zahid Maleque, MP, on Thursday said, “We are already self-sufficient in food, medicine production, and want to be self-sufficient in vaccine production as well.
The minister made the remark during his visit to the vaccine plant of Incepta Vaccine Ltd in Jirabo area of Ashulia in Savar, on the outskirts of the capital.
He said, “We got to know that the Incepta vaccine plant has already achieved world-class capability in vaccine production according to the Infrastructure and Good manufacturing Practice (GMP) standard. So, I think other countries also can use this plant for their vaccine production during this pandemic situation, in doing so, Incepta’s capability will play a major role to protect world public health”.
He further said, it is a good news for us that this vaccine plant has the capability to produce 180 million doses of vaccine in each year, in this case, we are hoping that the world community will use this facility when demand for huge amount will be required globally for Covid-19 vaccine.
The minister visited bulk facilities, R&D facilities, production facilities and animal house of Incepta Vaccine Ltd during the time, while Benzir Ahmed, MP of Dhaka-20, Md Abdul Mannan, Secretary, Health Care Division of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Major General Mahbubur Rahman, Director General of Drug Administration, Prof Dr Abul Bashar Mohammed Khurshid Alam, Director General, Directorate General of Health Service, Abdul Muktadir, Chairman and the Managing Director of Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd, were also present there, among others.
Notably, Incepta Vaccine Ltd officially started its production in 2011 in Savar, where they have a vaccine plant installed following GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) policy of World Health Organizations, which is equipped with all kinds of equipment to produce vaccines.
Apart from that, Incepta Vaccine Ltd also have Animal house, where they carry out several kinds of tests on animals.
