Hundreds of thousands of migratory birds have arrived in Jahangirnagar University (JU) at Savar on the outskirts of Dhaka in onset of winter this year.

Ornithologists believe such large numbers of birds come to the campus as this place is considered as a safe haven for the birds.

After visiting the JU campus on Saturday, it was seen that the lakes insides the campus were filled with the migratory birds. There are enough foods in the area for the birds.

One of the visitors said, “Flocks of migratory birds fly here and there in the campus area. Red water lily has added to the scenic beauty. The nature has offered its best magnificence to us here.”

The university has a large number of lakes and bushes, and it provides a safe sanctuary for the guest birds.

The guest birds fly in from thousands of miles away, from trembling cold parts, northern hemisphere, and across the globe including Siberia, China, Himalayans, Mongolia, Xinxiang. The birds migrate to the modest temperature zone like Bangladesh in search of food and to escape the unbearable cold of the northern countries of the world.
