Write positive and development stories

LGRD Minister urges journalists

LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Md Tajul Islam on Wednesday urged the journalists to write stories on government’s ongoing development issues. “You journalists prefer negative stories than something positive. I’m requesting all of you to write about development stories in order to uphold the country’s image at home and abroad. 

No news, even if it is true, should be published if it affects national interest,” he told  the opening ceremony of a two-day workshop for grassroots journalists at PIB auditorium in the capital. Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha’s infotainment service  organized the workshop in collaboration with Amar Bari Amar Khamar project of Rural Development and Cooperatives Division of LGRD and Cooperatives Ministry for the national news agency’s district correspondents.

LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Md Tajul Islam informed Over one crore poor people across the country are being benefited from the "My House My Farm Project", the dream  scheme of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

He focused on 10 special initiatives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with the journalists. The 10 special initiatives taken by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been playing a significant role in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and turning Bangladesh into a middle-income country by 2021.

The 10 initiatives are Amar Bari, Amar Khamar, Housing Project, Digital Bangladesh, Education Assistance Programme, Women Empowerment, Electricity for All, Community Clinic and Mental Health, Social Safety programme, Investment Development and Environment Protection. He said the government has been able to provide electricity connections to all parts of the country. “By utilizing the benefits of electricity, people of all parts of the country are earning money through their creative ideas and making themselves self-reliant,” he added.

The inaugural session of the workshop was chaired by  Managing Director and Chief Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), Abul Kalam Azad while PIB Director General Zafar Wazed and former head of Dhaka University Mass Communication and Journalism Department Professor Md Mofizur Rahman attended the function as special guests.

Abul Kalam Azad said the initiatives have been taken by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to turn the country into a middle-income one by 2021 and implement the vision 2041. He also urged media personnel and social leaders to convey messages of the initiatives to people and uphold the progress and development of the country.
