Representatives of Trade and Commerce Wing of UK High Commission had paid a courtesy call to Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Alhaj Zahirul Alam Dubash at the CDA meeting room on Tuesday.
The representatives were Trade and Investment Director Dan Pasha and Department for International Trade Deputy Director Khalid Mustafiz Ghaffar.
Under the chairmanship of CDA Secretary Amal Guha and moderated by System Analyst Mustafa Jamal, the meeting was attended by CDA Chief Engineer Kazi Hasan Bin Shams, Supervising Engineer AAM Habibur Rahman, Deputy Chief City Planner Abu Isa Ansari, Senior Architect Md. Golam Rabbani Chowdhury and Accounting Officer Anisul Haque Patwary.
During the meeting, discussions were held on various issues related to the development of mutual trade relations and the investment potential of the UK government and Bangladesh as well as Greater Chattogram.
The Trade and Commerce representative of the UK Government when wanted to know about the possibilities in UK public-private investment in the Bangladesh’s 2nd largest and commercially very important port city of Chittagong, the CDA chairman welcoming their proposal highlighted opportunities of the port, ongoing mega projects, and many more that are going to be added soon.
He called upon the UK representative to invest in those sectors, particularly in health, healthcare and education, given the reputation, expertise and capabilities of the UK.
CDA agreed to provide any assistance.
The UK delegation heard all these proposals and thanked the CDA Chairman.
At the end of the meeting, the CDA Chairman presented memento to both the representatives of the UK Government.
