Two-day BPO Summit to Kick off Sunday

The fourth Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) Summit is set to kick off in the city on April 21 (Sunday) aiming to showcase the sector’s possibilities and opportunities in the local and international markets.

The two-day BPO Summit Bangladesh-2019 will continue until April 22 (Monday). Local and international ICT experts, researchers, government policymakers, students, and BPO sector insiders will attend a number of seminars and discussions during the summit at the Pan Pacific Hotel Sonargaon in the capital. 

Secretary of Information of Communication Technology (ICT) Division NM Ziaul Alam said this while addressing a press conference held at ICT Tower in the city’s Agargoan area on Thursday. The present status of the BPO sector in the local and international markets will be showcased in the summit, the secretary said.

ICT Adviser to Prime Minister Sajeeb Wazed Joy will inaugurate the BPO summit. Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar will chair the summit while State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak will be present as a special guest.

Organizers said a total of 40 local and 20 international speakers will take part in the summit, in which a total of 13 seminars and workshops will also be arranged. They also expressed hope that this summit will play a crucial role in creating one lakh employments by 2021 in the BPO sector.

In this regard, campaigns, before the summit, will also be run in public and private universities and some related institutions in order to make the sector popular among students. The ICT Division of the government in collaboration with the Bangladesh Association of Call Centre and Outsourcing will organize the summit. This year, the slogan of the summit is ‘Transforming Service to Digital’.
