Traders fined Tk 12,500 during market monitoring drives

Two market monitoring teams of the Ministry of Commerce on Wednesday fined Tk. 12,500 during separate drives in the capital city.

The teams conducted the drives at Mohammadpur Kitchen Bazar and Fakirapool Kacha Bazar and fined several traders for irregularities.

A team led by deputy secretary of the Commerce Ministry Jannatul Ferdous conducted a drive at Mohammadpur Kitchen Bazar and fined several traders Tk. 12,500 for not hanging the price list properly and other irregularities.

Another team led by senior assistant secretary Amit Deb Nath

conducted a drive at Fakirapool Kacha Bazar and checked the buying and selling prices of different essential products.

The team informed that the prices of egg and onion have been decreased slightly and insisted that the traders must hang the updated price list of chicken, rice potato, onion and other products.

The commerce ministry formed a nine-member task force to prevent hoarding of goods in large kitchen markets, godowns, cold storage and other stages of the supply chain with an aim to keep the prices of daily necessities at a reasonable level.
