Tigers’ ignominy ends with humiliating defeat

In what already was a disappointing outing in the T20 World Cup, it got even worse in the final game of Super 12 phase for Bangladesh as they got absolutely thrashed in the hands of Australia by 8 wickets in Dubai on Thursday.

The ignominy has finally ended. It has been an abysmal tourney for Bangladesh and it has ended. If their collapse against South Africa was termed as an aberration, this one stamped the claim that it wasn't. They went down like a lead balloon and were decimated for 73 after being sent to bat first. Australia had one eye on the net run rate (NRR) and they indeed have done well to overpower Bangladesh in no time at all.

Bangladesh had routed the Aussies a few days back at home but it is now a distant memory as Australia have retorted back in style. Zampa spun a web after the pacers triggered an early collapse to pass on the baton to the leggie. Zampa's fifer laid the foundation for an early chase and the openers - Finch and Warner - closed it off in style by getting their team off to a flying start. Both fell towards the end of the chase but the mission was accomplished in just 6.2 overs.

Earlier, after being sent to bat first, Bangladesh’s innings got over in the blink of an eye. The Australian pacers did the damage in the powerplay, reducing Bangladesh to 33/4 in the first six overs, and Adam Zampa came in next to blow away the remaining of the Bangladeshi batting order. Not much to talk about Bangladesh's batting, it was disappointing to say the least and it was Australia all the way.
