Three of a family killed in Narayanganj road crash

Narayanganj: The members of a family were killed and eight others  injured in a road accident  at Kanchpur intersection on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway in Sonargaon Upazila here on Thursday midnight.

The deceased were identified as Sangeeta Rani Barman, 35, her daughter Barsha Barman, 16, and her mother-in-law Debi Barman, 55.

The injured were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and local clinics.

The bodies were sent to NarayanganjGeneral Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kanchpur Highway Police OutPost Kaium Ali Sardar said a Sylhet-bound passenger bus ran over them while they were crossing the road after Rath Yatra of Jagannath Dev, leaving three women dead on the spot.

Later, a good-laden Dhaka-bound lorrey from opposite direction collided-head-on with the bus, leaving eight bus passengers injured.

The OC said the lorry and the bus were seized from the spot.
