Police recovered the bodies of a man and his two young sons from their home in Sharsha upazila of Jashore on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Kamal Hossain, 45, of Chotkapota Dakshinpara area, and his two sons, Md Sabir Hossain, 5, and Md Jabir Hossain, 3, said Sharsha Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shaminul Haque.
Kamal, who worked as a van puller, is suspected of killing his two children before taking his own life after consuming pesticide, police said.
The incident reportedly occurred at around 4:00pm on Tuesday.
Police and local residents said Kamal allegedly took the pesticide after the deaths of his two sons. Police later went to the house and recovered the three bodies.
Following inquest examinations, the bodies were sent to Jashore General Hospital for autopsies.
According to police, Kamal’s wife, Rabia Begum, had left for her father’s home in Narail about a week earlier following a family dispute.
Police said the circumstances surrounding the deaths are under investigation.
