Thai Embassy resumes visa issuance for exceptional cases

Published : 22 Aug 2021 08:19 PM

Thai Embassy in Dhaka has announced to resume accepting applications for visas and COEs for non-Thai nationals who fall within certain categories with immediate effect. The categories are as follow:

Businesspersons or experts who are invited, requested or approved by Thai governmental agencies to travel to Thailand, or senior executives of companies with large amount of investment in Thailand.

Non-Thai nationals who are immediate family members i.e. spouses, parents, or children of Thai nationals.

Non-Thai nationals whose family members are residing in Thailand with proof of residency, namely (1) certificate of residence and (2) permit of temporary stay in Thailand (longer than 90 days).

The applications will be processed only if the applicants can prove the necessity and urgency of their travel.

To apply for visa, applicants must send a photocopy of passport information page, proof of status and reason/purpose of the visit to the Embassy for consideration at [email protected]. Successful applicants will be notified via email before they can proceed with lodging their application.

It may be mentioned that visas and COEs issuance for the aforementioned applicants is based on a critical reason for a visit and subject to the approval from Thai authorities and the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) in Thailand, hence may take longer time than usual. Any decision reached by the Thai authorities and CCSA is deemed final.

Also, both non-vaccinated and fully vaccinated persons who meet the above criteria can be considered for visa and COE application and will be subjected to a mandatory 14-day quarantine upon arrival in Thailand.

Travellers from Bangladesh are not yet eligible to join the Phuket Sandbox scheme.

Other travellers with a re-entry visa who have been outside Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, India and Maldives for at least 21 days can be considered for the COE.
