Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has set up a temporary booth at Bangabazar for assisting the victims to file general diaries (GDs) regarding damages caused by the devastating market fire.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Ramna) Md Bayejedur Rahman confirmed it.
The booth was set up to ease the sufferings of the victims in filing GDs, he added.
He further said, the affected traders can file the GDs with the help of policemen without going to police station.
Meanwhile, a Dhaka court sent three people on one-day remand in a case filed on charges of attacking police and obstructing them on performing government work while they were trying to douse fire at Bangabazar.
Md Raju, Shaon and Shahadat Hossain were produced in court on Thursday. Sub-inspector (SI) Masudul Hasan of Bangshal police station applied for a three-day remand for them in the interest of proper investigation.
On the other hand, the defence counsels filed a bail petition seeking cancellation of the remand.
After hearing both sides, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ataullah denied their bail and granted a one-day remand for all three.
Earlier, SI Israfil Howlader of Bangshal police station filed the case against about 250-300 unknown people on the same day.
An angry mob pelted bricks bats and stones to the Head office of Fire Service and Civil Defence, located on Kazi Alauddin Road in Old Dhaka on Tuesday around 9:20am.
Police tried to bring the situation under control and fired several rounds of teargas shell at the mob. Eventually, the police managed to disperse the crowd.
However, despite repeated calls that the Fire Service Head office is the national property and it should not be damaged, the protesters continued throwing bricks bats and stones at the building.
