Tasty trip to TUSCANY

When you’ve tasted delightful Cesare Con Pollo, bursting with flavours of crispy beef pancetta and sundried tomatoes at a small cafe in San Gimignano, or melted parmesan oozing out of lasagne, you yearn for a taste of Italy wherever you are. Lucky for us, Italian fare in Dhaka has moved from the staid pizza-pasta variety to a truly gastronomical range of authentic Italian over the past few years. So if you're hunting down the best Italian restaurants in Dhaka, look no further. With local Italian ingredients, evolving menus, in-house bakeries and a whole lot of vino – Tuscany The Traditional Italian Cuisine promise a gourmet journey in the heart of the city, with the utmost attention to detail.

Conveniently located at Banani, the interior is inspired by warmth and vibrancy with comfortable wooden hues and sofas and some interesting artifacts. The service is exemplary and the staffs always go out of their way to make the visitors feel cherished and pampered.

Emran Hossain, Operation Head of Tuscany said, “Tuscany is built on the ideal of serving its patrons a traditional Italian Cuisine experience. Our goal is not only to serve delicious Italian cuisine, but to also offer a warm and welcoming atmosphere; in a setting where socializing and celebrating is fun and familiar. We only use fresh, carefully sourced, seasonal ingredients to create our beautiful and rustic dishes and bring the Italian touch to Bangladesh's palate.”

I started with the refreshing Cream of Mushroom Soup (BDT 250), that had a subtle touch and went well with the fresh and crunchy Gamberi (BDT 700), which was topped with prawns, mozzarella cheese and fresh tomatoes. Gamberetti All Aglio E Olio (BDT 500) consists of flavourful prawns tossed in olive oil and garlic on a bed of creamy spinach tastes incredible.

Melanzane Alla Parmigiana

Melanzane Alla Parmigiana (BDT 300) is one of the most popular and iconic vegetarian Italian dishes served at Tuscany. Fresh Mozzarella topped with baked eggplant, aged Parmesan cheese, fresh tomato and balsamic vinegar baked to bubbly perfection is lip smacking delicious.

Among mains, I would highly recommend Pollo Con Prosciutto (BDT 1000). Chicken breast stuffed with beef prosciutto di Parma and mozzarella cheese cooked in a creamy sage sauce served with mash and veggies is delicious. Pepper Steak (BDT 999) is drool worthy as well. It is packed full of juicy steak, served with mash potatoes and sautéed vegetables.

Risotto Com Gamberetti Scampi

Risotto Com Gamberetti Scampi (BDT 890) at Tuscany is the perfect risotto you're aiming for; plump and al dente in the center with king prawns in a tomato and creamy sauce.

Overall, my experience at Tuscany turned out to be a good one. Even after binging onto some delicious Italian dishes, I felt light and satiated, not feeling the guilt of having eaten too much. Tuscany is one those Italian eateries in Dhaka that I would personally recommend. Not only for a great food experience but also for a happy soul touch – this place is one of my favourites!
