‘Shokudo’ means dining room in Japanese. True to its name, Shokudo 101 is a fusion Pan Asian restaurant with a relaxed and casual atmosphere. Uniqueness for Shokudo, not only lies in its name or menu but also in its decor that looks edgy and vibrant. Behind the walls of its kitchen, the chefs deconstruct and reconstruct various Asian cuisines. There is so much freshness in their presentation and the ingredients. It offers a wide range of Japanese and oriental delicacies. The restaurant staff introduced us to the amazing cuisines of Shokudo 101. Each dish itself was a complete platter to guzzle up. We started with aromatic Chanko Nabe Cup (BDT 290) and Crazy Salmon Roll (BDT 540). Chanko Nabe Cup is a hearty, bursting bowl of soup filled with prawn, squid and seafood and a load of veggies in Japanese style udon noodles. Crazy Salmon Roll on the other hand is truly made for salmon fans! The roll is filled with a combination of incredibly rich fresh salmon and raw vegetables drizzled with teriyaki sauce that makes the taste a real moment of delight.
In the main course, hearty Red Curry Chicken (BDT 450) features a thick and velvety red curry sauce enrobes tender bite-sized pieces of chicken; and when paired with Mixed Pineapple Fried Rice (BDT 600), it tastes incredible. Stir Fry Beef with Ginger (BDT 450) was tender, juicy, and super delicious.
Beef Bulgogi (BDT 990) was another delicious Korean entrée. The sweet and savory flavour infused in every tender piece of beef makes it outstanding. The Thai style Deep fried whole Snapper with Mango salsa (BDT 1150) was fragrant, juicy and delicious. The Mango salsa goes excellent with the fish.
Shokudo 101 do offer a variety of Bento Box as well. Their bentos holds rice or noodles, fish or meat, with pickled and cooked vegetables, in a box. Their most popular Premium Bento (BDT 750) comprises of fried rice, chicken teriyaki, 2 pcs of shrimp tempura, mixed mushroom, 1 pc tuna sushi, white fish sushi and prawn sushi. Economy Bento (BDT 650) has fried rice, beef with basil, 2 pcs vegetable tempura, katsu chicken, 1 pc shrimp sushi, white fish sushi and apple egg salad.
