The law-enforcers arrested a man suspecting him as the owner of the motorcycle used by the two assailants, who shot Sharif Osman Hadi, an independent MP aspirant for Dhaka-8 constituency and spokesperson for Inqilab Mancha, was arrested early hours of Sunday, said police.
The detainee was identified as Md Abdul Hannan, 40, a resident of the Chand Udyan area under Mohammadpur Police Station.
Hadi was shot around 2:25pm on Friday on Box Culvert Road in Paltan area, leaving him critically injured.
Sub-Inspector Biplob Baroi of Rapid Action Battalion-2 said, Hannan is the registered owner of the motorcycle, Dhaka Metro-La 54-6375, used in the shooting.

He said RAB identified the motorcycle and detained Hannan from Chand Udyan area on suspicion of a possible link to the attack.
RAB later handed over Hannan to Paltan Police Station around 3:00am.
Confirming the development, Paltan Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mostafa Kamal Khan said RAB had handed over a man claiming to be the owner of the motorcycle used in the shooting.
"We are verifying the information. We will inform you later," the OC said when asked whether Hannan had explained how the assailants obtained his motorcycle.
