Prothom Alo authorities on Saturday published an explanatory report over the death of Naimul Abrar, claiming that they were utmost sincere in managing the events after electrocution.

In the report, Prothom Alo claimed that they were informed about the electrocution event after the concert ended.

But categorically rejecting the claim, Naimul’s classmates on Saturday said, “They are showing lame excuses now.”

Student volunteers informed the organisers just after the incident, they claimed.

“But, instead of taking immediate step or stopping the concert, the organisers decided to continue the show,” the students vented their anger.

The ninth grader of Dhaka Residential Model College died of electrocution during a concert at a playground of the school organised by Kishore Alo, an ancillary of the popular daily newspaper.

Classmates of Naimul Abrar on Saturday argued that if Prothom Alo did not mismanage the whole thing then why they avoided publishing the news of Naimul’s death. “Why their explanation over his death came almost after a day when the issue has already created sensation all across the country?”

They alleged that Prothom Alo authorities had a plan to bounce their negligence of death. “Therefore, he was taken so far,” they concluded.

They said, “Why he was taken to a private hospital in faraway Mohakhali instead of nearby Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College & Hospital, one of the biggest public hospitals of the country.”

Kishore Alo also published a clarifying note on its Facebook page Saturday morning:

“The Volunteers, who are the Team Leaders, were told the death story. Prothom Alo Volunteers have worked hard all day to ensure that visitors and readers can enjoy the event seamlessly. One of us has left us, so that the rest of us should go home smoothly. All in all, so it was not reported to the ordinary volunteers that evening. It is thought that it will be reported from the pages of Kishor Alo.”
