Stocks witness up on large-cap vibe

Stocks on Tuesday witnessed upward trend as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found rising with higher activities of some large-cap securities.

DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 52.99 points or 0.87 per cent to settle at 6,150.22. Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rose 7.73 points to finish at 2,111.09 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 12.64 points to close at 1,354.39.

At the DSE, out of the day's 394 securities, prices of 255 securities closed higher against 92 losing issues.

The day's trade value at the DSE increased to Taka 9398.70 million which was Taka 6624.58 million at the previous session of the week.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with an upward trend with its major CASPI 177.90 points up at 17442.80. At the CSE, 272 issues were traded. Of those, 171 closed higher and 76 closed lower when 93.76 lakh shares worth Taka 18.48 crore changed hands.
