Stocks rebound on both bourses

After witnessing a downward trend in the five sessions, stocks on Monday rebounded in the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges as investors remained active on sector-wise issues.

After witnessing volatility, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 21.16 points or 0.37 per cent to settle at 5,674.87. Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rose 1.48 point to finish at 1,983.91 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 4.55 points to close at 1,243.09.

Daily trade turnover increased to Taka 5,749.24 million on the country's premier bourse, which was Taka 4782.35 million at the previous session of the week.

Out of 396 issues traded, 224 advanced, 112 declined and 60 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

ASIATICLAB dominated the turnover chart, closely followed by BEACONPHAR, ORIONINFU, GOLDENSON and LOVELLO.

 ORIONINFU was the day's top gainer, rising 8.74 per cent, while KBPPWBIL was the worst loser, shedding 4.39 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also rebounded with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -gaining 63.79 points to settle at 16,188.82 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX rising 40.12 points to close at 9,737.59.

Of the issues traded, 81 declined, 91 advanced and 27 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.

The port city's bourse traded 34.86 lakh shares and mutual fund units with turnover value of Taka 11.45 crore.
