Stocks continue fall

Country’s premier bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed today extending the downbeat of previous session, reports BSS.

The broad index, DSEX closed at 4390.67 points on Tuesday with a loss of3.76 points or 0.08 percent.

Besides, the two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 and the Shariah index, DSES went up by 3.78 points and 1.85 points to settle at 1496.40 points and 985.44 points respectively.

On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 85,846 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 84.90 million securities.

Loser took a strong lead over the gainers as out of 353 issues traded, 112 securities gained price while 179 declined and 62 remained unchanged.

The top 10 gainers were Anlima Yarn, United Power, BD Auto car, GQ Ball Pen, Paramount Insurance, AIBL First Islami Mutual Fund, Quashem Industries, Sinobangla Industries, ICB AMCL Second Mutual Fund and Hwa Well Textile. Square Pharma topped the turnover chart followed by Khulna Power, National Life Insurance, Sinobangla Industries, Paramount Insurance, Quashem Industries, Paramount Textile, Ring Shine, United Power and Standard Ceramics.

The top 10 losers were Samata Leather, Mercantile Insurance, Progressive Life Insurance, Padma Life Insurance, Emerald Oil, Pragati Insurance, CNA Tex, Aziz Pipes, Safco Spinning and Sonali Ansh.

On the other hand, the port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed at red maintaining the losing streak of previous day. CSCX and CASPI declined by 7.87 points and 11.80 points to stand at 8105.88 points and 13372.57 points respectively.

At CSE, a total of 3,823,342 shares and mutual fund of 230 companies were traded, of which 67 issues advanced while 117 declined and 46 issues remained unchanged.
