The government has decided to reopen educational institutions from September 12. Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni has said that after the reopening of the educational institution, SSC, HSC examinees and students of class five will attend classes in person every day.
The Education Minister announced the decision after an inter-ministerial meeting on the reopening of educational institutions at the secretariat on Sunday.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the educational institutions of the country have remained closed since March 17 last year. According to the latest announcement of the government, the closure of schools will continue till September 11.
The Education Minister further said that the classes of this year’s SSC and HSC candidates may be over in a few days and afterward, the classes of the students of the ninth and eleventh grade will also be held every day.
Regarding the opening of universities, the education minister said that there was a plan to reopen the university in mid-October, but the situation will be monitored again after discussing with the vice-chancellors. They can open the universities earlier if they want.
Mentioning that no one can enter the classroom without wearing a mask, the education minister said students, teachers and everyone involved with the educational institution must wear a mask. Teachers have to take care of the young children and see if they are facing any problems.
Besides, the education minister has also given directions to make all educational institutions suitable for teaching by September 9.
When asked about the PSC and JSC examinations, Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam said that they have preparations to take the exam. However, the decision will be taken considering the situation.
