The SSC and equivalent examinations will be held within one and a half hours for each subject, according to the directives of the authorities concerned.

Confusion has been raised among the SSC examinees regarding the time schedule this year. This year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinees faced the dilemma when they saw the time mentioned on the question paper to solve it after attending the examination centers.

Although there were instructions for conducting the examination in one and a half hours for each creative paper, students have found the time mentioned in the creative part question is 2 hours and 35 minutes.

According to the education boards, the question was prepared before the examination instructions came for an hour and a half. So confusion has grown over the time. Whatever is written in the question, the test will be held for one and a half hours. Candidates have already been instructed in this regard in all the centers. This may be the case in subsequent tests.

After the SSC physics examination on Sunday morning, many of the candidates said although the creative part of the question paper mentioned 2 hours and 35 minutes, they were asked to solve the question paper within one and a half hours.

Many students got nervous due to the different time frame mentioned in the question paper as they have suddenly sat for such an important examination without attending pre-test and test examinations earlier, several guardians claimed.

In this regard, Controller of Examinations for Dhaka Board of Secondary and Higher Education Professor SM Amirul Islam said, “It takes about two months to print the question. We had already taken all the preparations for the examinations including printing the questions earlier. Later, it was decided to conduct the test for one and a half hours.”

He also said, “There may have written three hours on the next question papers. However, whatever is written on the question paper, the test will be held within one and a half hours. We have already asked the centers to inform the students about this before the beginning of the examination. Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni is aware of the matter. There is no chance of being confused over this issue.”

According to the routine, the written examination of SSC has started from November 14 and will continue till November 23. And the educational institutions have been asked to complete the practical examination of SSC by November 28.
