On Sunday, the third day of lockdown, strict restrictions have been re-imposed in an effort to control the Covid-19 infection. Fewer vehicles are plying on the roads of Dhaka streets, mostly in case of emergencies.

Traffic movement has increased and there are enough rickshaws active on the streets of the capital. However, many people have been seen walking on the roads and sidewalks.

Members of the law enforcement agencies continue to search and interrogate at the checkpoints in order to limit unnecessary public activity.

During the lockdown, people have been instructed to be careful, wear masks, follow hygiene rules and abide by health safety protocols. Apart from the police, members of RAB, BGB, Army and Ansar are also working in the field as well to enforce the ban.

According to authorities, most people who stepped out have presented their reasons being medical or banking emergencies. Law enforcers cannot overlook reasonable excuses however, so many people surfing the roads of the capital kills the purpose of the lockdown.

A significant number of people were seen in Dhanmondi, Shatmashjir Road, Mohammadpur and Mirpur. Scenarios in the intertwining alleys of the capital portray heavy violation of the lockdown. Many shops and businesses opened while people in the lanes seemed active and ignorant.

Restrictions were relaxed from midnight on July 14 to 8 am on July 23 due to the festive celebrations and commercial activities of Eid-ul-Azha. However, strict restrictions were resumed and imposed from 8 am on July 23 until and will continue till 5th August as per latest update.
