An explosion occurred in an oxygen plant called 'Shema Oxygen' in Kadamarsulpur area of Sitakunda Upazila of Chattogram. At least five deaths have been reported. Besides, more than 100 injured workers were rescued and sent to Chattogram Medical College (CMC) Hospital.
Rescue workers of the humanitarian organization Gausiya Committee along with the fire service are working at the scene. However, they can still reach the center of the explosion.
The explosion occurred around 4 pm on Saturday. Several units of Sitakunda and Kumira stations of Fire Service are trying to control the fire.
Tofail Ahmed, OC of Sitakunda police station said, I have received information that three people were killed in the explosion at the oxygen plant. 100 people were injured in the blast. A search operation is underway inside the plant.
