Sikder Groups’ statement regarding the news published in various media centering the case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on 31 March 2024 against Sikder Group two directors Mr Rick Haque Sikder and Mr Ron Haque Sikder.

It has been observed for a long time that a few vested interest groups are engaged in a conspiracy against Sikder Group, a leading industrial and business conglomerate in the country.

These vested interest groups are trying to harm the group founded by Freedom Fighter Zainul Haque Sikder, a close companion of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and one of the Liberation War organisers, by spreading false and baseless information. Following this, they brought forward the issue of money laundering through National Bank’s credit card.

Sikder Group directors spent 9.83 million dollars abroad using credit cards and paid the whole money including 2.04 million dollars interest and other charges as per the existing rules of Bangladesh Bank from their foreign incomes.

The matter has been settled there. But after two years the issue is brought forward purposefully for mysterious reasons.

Mentionable that, the credit cards which were issued against Foreign Currency (DC) account and those will not come under travel quota. So, 12000 dollars travel quota limit will not be applicable for them.

The allegation of money laundering is completely baseless because all the payment of credit cards bills were remitted from Sikder Group’s foreign incomes.

Sikder Group has been doing business at home and abroad with good reputation for a long time. Freedom Fighter Zainul Haque Sikder, the founder of Sikder Group, also made a huge contribution in the great Liberation War.

The first women’s medical college was established in the country through Sikder Group. Freedom Fighter Zainul Haque Sikder established numerous educational institutions and mosque madrasas. Sikder Group also plays a major role in the construction of large infrastructures including hotel-tourism, ports and power plants.

Sikder Group is constructing South Asia’s tallest 111-storey Bangabandhu Tri-Tower at Purbachal in the capital, which is the fifth tallest building in the world.

And for this reason, Sikder Group has become the target of some vested interest groups. These conspirators became more active after the death of Sikder Group founder Freedom Fighter Zainul Haque Sikder.

After the death of Freedom Fighter Zainul Haque Sikder, his two sons, Mr Rick Haque Sikder and Mr Ron Haque Sikder, were taking the group towards greater progress, at that time, those vested interest groups are continuing to make various attempts and conspiracies to hinder the progress of this group.

For the time being, when the Sikder Group is making massive efforts to attract foreign investment in some of the country’s major projects, these conspirators are deliberately spreading misinformation in the media with baseless allegations against the Sikder Group to stop them.

Sikder Group appeals to all not to be misled by the false propaganda of these conspirators.
