Leaders of the Shippers Council on Saturday stressed enhancing services of the council to the shippers, means exporters and importers for further growth of the country's trade and commercial activates.
Reviewing the contemporary situation of the country's trade, transport, shipping and port related problems in the context of COVID-19, they elaborately discussed what should be the measures, possible to take by the council for providing expected services. Things were discussed in the 40th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Shippers’ Council of Bangladesh (SCB) held at the SCB Conference Room, Dhanmondi, Dhaka on Saturday. Presided over by Md. Rezaul Karim, Chairman, SCB, the meeting also discussed its interaction with Asian Shippers’ Alliance (ASA) and Global Shippers’ Alliance (GSA). The Meeting confirmed the minutes of the last AGM, passed the Annual Report of the Board of Directors for 2021, the Audited Balance Sheet and Statement of Accounts for the year 2020-2021 and appointed Auditors for the year 2021-2022. The Member, Election Board of the Council Binoy Krishna Mondal formally announced the names of new Office Bearers & Directors for the term 2022 & 2023.
New office bearers are: Chairman, Md. Rezaul Karim, Proprietor, S.N. Jute International, Senior Vice Chairman, Md. Ariful Ahsan, Chairman, Silk Container Lines Ltd., Vice Chairman, A.K.M. Aminul Mannan (Khokon), Proprietor, East West Jute Trading Co. and Directors : Md. Munir Hossain, Director, Dress World Ltd., Arzu Rahman Bhuiyan, Proprietor, Arzu Jute Traders, Syed Md. Bakhtiar, Chairman, Active Logistics, Md. Nurussafa Babu, Director, Electro Mart Ltd, Ziaul Islam, Partner, M.S. Fashions, Ganesh Chandra Saha, Managing Partner, International Jute Traders, Ataur Rahman Khan, Proprietor, A.R. Khan & Co. and KM Arifuzzaman, Proprietor, King Ocean Shipping Lines.
The Chairman conveyed his thanks to the outgoing Office Bearers and Directors and also the secretariat of SCB who worked hard for the period for smooth flow of international trade and for representing this Council in all related national and International forum. He also urged all to extend their sincere cooperation and support to the Shippers’ Council of Bangladesh.
