The town of Shillong is situated in northeast India and capital of the state of Meghalaya. The hills are a wonderful sight to see which bring about innumerable visitors each year. Anyone can enjoy these natural rock carvings if they drive from Dawki boarder to Shillong. These roads were built on the face of mountains after digging into the slopes.

During the drive from Dawki to Shillong, you can see that clean water flows downstream coming from many areas over the hill. Many times in adverse weather and create landslides.

However, it is very interesting that there were no landslides even though the roads are built on the hill faces.

To reach Shillong from Dawki you can enjoy the zigzag roads which encircle the hills. To some it might seem frightening while going up the dizzying slopes.

To avoid any accidents on the road or prevent vehicles from rolling over the side a metal guard rail is always present protecting the commuters.

For nature lovers, the journey over to Shillong can be the best experience.

While travelling along the mountain side one can never guess after witnessing the mesmerizing scenery that the rocks from the mountains are used for making ceramic tiles.

Much of this ceramic products are exported to Bangladesh and other countries through Dawki border.
