Awami League presidium member Tofail Ahmed on Sunday said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has dedicated her life to fulfil Bangbandhu’s dream of making a Sonar Bangla. He said this at a discussion on occasion of Bangabandhu’s Homecoming Day organized by Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote at the National Press Club in the capital.

“Bangabandhu had two dreams – liberation of the country and a poverty-free Bangladesh. His daughter is working to materialise her father’s dream. All of us should strengthen the hands of Sheikh Hasina,” Tofail said. “A wise and far-sighted leader like Bangabandhu is rare in the world. His love for people and the country is incomparable. He spent thirteen years of his life in prison demanding rights of the people of Bangladesh,” he added.

Law Minister Anisul Haque, Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote president Tarana Halim, senior vice-president Enamul Haque and actor Riaz, among others, were present at the discussion. Tofail Ahmed further said that as a party that always practice democratic values, Awami League will never violate the code of conduct in any election let alone during the imminent Dhaka City Corporation election.
