Shakib hits two records in one match

Ace allrounder Shakib Al Hasan became only the third player in the ODI cricket history to hit 7000 runs and take 300 wickets simultaneously after scoring 93 runs in Bangladesh’s first ODI against Ireland at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

He joined the club of the rare feat after Sri Lanka’s Sanath Jayasuriya and Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi.

Jayasuriya scored 13430 runs and took 323 wickets in 445 matches while Afridi ended his career with 8064 runs and 395 wickets in 398 matches. 

Shakib reached the milestone in his 228 matches.

The talismanic all-rounder also became only the second Bangladeshi player to reach 7000 runs milestone after Tamim Iqbal. 

The ODI captain Tamim needed 204 innings to reach the milestone while Shakib required 216 innings.
