State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury said that Chattogram Port is the life line of Bangladesh's economy. Installation of scanners is in progress for flawless security. Scanners will be installed at each gate of the port for import and export. Scanners are not installed at Chattogram port; the syndicate is playing a strong role so that digital Bangladesh is not touched.
Whatever needs to be done will be done under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to make Chattogram port world class. Not only the Chattogram port, but also the land ports including the Mongla port are in progress. The state minister said these things while visiting newmooring container terminal of Chattogram port on Sunday.
Chattogram Port Chairman Rear Admiral M Shahjahan, Member (Administration and Planning) Md Zafar Alam, Member (Engineering) Captain Md Mahbubur Rahman were present. State Minister Khalid said that according to the agreement with India, their country's ships can use Chattogram Port and from there goods can go to other states of India by road. For this reason, trial runs of Indian ships have taken place at Chattogram port. There will be more trials.
Chattogram Port is being further upgraded. Patenga Container Terminal isoverflow Yard constructed. Chattogram port is ready to handle the pressure of more ships. Indian ships will start arriving regularly once the National Board of Revenue becomes SRO. Regarding Indian ships using Chattogram port and sending goods from there to other Indian states, he said, Bangladesh is a humanitarian state.
"We got this country in exchange for the blood of 30 lakh martyrs. We have always taken humanitarian steps. Bangabandhu's foreign policy is friendship with all. Accordingly we extended the hand of humanity", he added.
