The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Saturday issued written order asking the lawyers to strictly follow High Court order that prohibits any form of procession or gathering within the Supreme Court premises.
The order was reveled after signed by all justices of a four-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique.
In the written order, all the lawyers including the seven Pro-BNP lawyers has been asked to follow the HC order strictly which restricts holding rallies and processions on the premises of the apex court.
Earlier on August 30, the Appellate Division issued a directive instructing lawyers to strictly adhere to a High Court order that prohibits any form of procession or gathering within the Supreme Court premises.
Meanwhile, the court also scheduled a hearing on October 19 for a contempt of court petition against seven Pro-BNP lawyers, including former Attorney General also president of the Nationalist Lawyers Forum AJ Mohammad Ali.
In a verdict in 2005, the HC bench of Justice Abdul Matin and Justice AFM Abdur Rahman issued a guideline in holding rallies at the Supreme Court.
"Everyone has been asked to follow the HC order strictly that barred holding rallies and processions and using microphone in the court area.
It is applicable for all courts of Bangladesh. Any act in defiance of this order will constitute contempt of court. The persons concerned shall refrain from all court proceedings until the matter is resolved", Attorney General AM Amin Uddin said.
The order came after a petition was submitted in response to a press conference and rally held on 29 August by the Pro-BNP lawyers demanding resignation of two Appellate Division judges.
