The price of fine quality rice has increased over the week.

At the same time, the price of broiler chicken has increased by about Tk 10 per kilogram (kg) while winter vegetables prices are also on the rise.

On visiting few kitchen markets of the capital, this reporter got the information from traders on Friday.

There is no effect on the price of rice in the market even in Amon season. Only the price of coarse rice fell slightly. However, in a few days, the price of fine rice has increased up to Tk 3 per kg.

A rice trader at Rampura Bazar said, “A sack of 50 kg Mojjameel Miniket rice is now Tk 3800, 50 kg of Rashid Miniket rice is Tk 3600. As per the market condition there is no chance for fine quality rice price reduction, it is likely to decrease after the bangla month of Boishak.”

While talking about the coarse rice, he replied, “Aman is the season of coarse rice production, that’s why its price has gone down slightly.”

However, the National Board of Revenue (NBR) has withdrawn duty on import of rice till March 31 to stabilize the market. Despite this, there was no impact on the market.

Fine miniket rice is being sold at Tk 68 to Tk 75 per kg depending on the market and quality. Good

quality Nazirshail rice is Tk 75 to Tk 85 per kg.

Even though winter is continuing, the price of seasonal vegetables is on the rise. Traders cited shortage of supply as the reason for the rise in prices, but the market has seen adequate supply. But the price has increased up to Tk 10 per kg.

It was found that, radishes per kg and cauliflower per piece are being sold at Tk 40 with an increase of Tk 10. A kg of beans is now Tk 50, green chilli Tk 100 a kg, bitter gourd Tk 120, eggplant Tk 80 a kg.
