The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) will start interrogating three policemen including Pradeep Kumar Das, former officer-in-charge of Teknaf police station in Cox’s Bazar, in a case over the killing of retired army major Sinha M Rashed on Sunday.

Investigating officer of the case will conduct the interrogation of the trio in RAB custody for seven days.

Two others who will be on the remand along with Pradip are Inspector Liakat Alo and Sub-Inspector Nandandulal.

Measures have been taken to investigate the case in line with court orders, said Lt Col Ashik Billah, spokesperson of the elite force.

On July 31, Sinah was shot dead at the Baharchara checkpoint on the Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf Marine Drive under at Shamlapur area.

Teknaf police claimed Sinha died in a firing what they said self-defence after the retired major brandished his pistol while police intercepted his vehicle.

The killings drew a wide spared outcry with Retired Armed Forces Officer's Welfare Association (RAOWA) demanding immediate trial.

Later on August 2, police withdrew 20 of their members over the killing and attached them to the Cox’s Bazar Police Lines.

On August 5, elder sister of the slain major filed a case against nine policemen with a Cox’s Bazar judicial magistrate court.

Inspector Liaqat, who was in-charge of Baharchhara Police Investigation Centre, and OC Pradeep are among the nine named in the case.

Other accused are policemen Nando Dulal Rakkhit, Safanur Karim, Kamal Hossain, Md Abdullah Al Mmaun, Liton Miah, Tutul, and Md Mustafa.

On the next day, the court ordered the RAB-15 to investigate in Sinha killing case and granted 7-day remand to three suspects.

Meanwhile, Abul Faisal, OC of Chandina Police station in Cumilla, replaced Pradeep in Teknaf on Saturday.
