Red Crescent deploys 1m coronavirus volunteers

The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society on Saturday said they had deployed 1 million volunteers across Bangladesh and was working closely with the government to prevent coronavirus.

Those volunteers and officials of various levels of the society are working to raise public awareness against coronavirus at the grass-root level, including in Dhaka.

Vice-chairman of the Red Crescent Society Prof Dr Habibe Millat MP on Saturday took part in the Dhaka campaign at Kawranbazar area. They are raising awareness campaign through social media also.

The youth and volunteers of the Society are conducting various awareness programmes including the need of spraying disinfectant and using hand sanitizer for the passengers waiting in buses, trains and launch terminals in different districts of Dhaka and Chittagong.

They also provided training and health safety message to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College Hospital. Some 185 sets of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) have been provided with adequate quantities of soap, hand sanitizer, and necessary medical supplies, the Society said in a statement.
