Agriculture Minister Dr Md Abdur Razzaque on Fiday laid emphasis on global exchange of knowledge and experience for agricultural research and its development in order to ensure food security both at local and global levels.
“We must emphasize on global exchange of knowledge and experience related to agricultural research and development for ensuring food security at domestic and global levels. At the same time, for sustainable agricultural development, we must attach great importance to the development of climate-smart agricultural technologies and the protection of biodiversity,” he said.
The minister was speaking at a technical session as the chief guest on the occasion of World Food Day 2020 at a city hotel.
Razzaque said that Bangladesh has achieved unprecedented success in agriculture and food security in the last one decade as a result of timely steps taken by the present government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Bangladesh has attained self-sufficient in granular food by overcoming various challenges, he said, adding that the achievement of agricultural development is being widely praised all over the world.
Agriculture Secretary MdMesbahul Islam presided over the function while former Agriculture Secretary MdNasiruzzaman, Food Secretary MosammatNazmanaraKhanum, Bangladesh Agricultural University Professor DrAbdusSattarMandal and International Rice Research Institute Director General Matthew Morel were present, among others.
