Jatiya Party (JP) chairman GM Quader on Tuesday held a meeting with the party’s chief patron Raushan Ershad, who is the main opposition leader in the National Parliament, at a hotel in capital Dhaka.

Day after the return of Raushan Ershad from Bangkok after five months, the meeting was held in view of resolving misunderstandings and intra-party feud among the leaders of the party.

GM Quader with two Dhaka city leaders JP Syed Abu Hossain Babla and Shafiqul Islam Sentu went to the hotel located in Gulshan area and met Raushan.

At the meeting GM Quader gave Raushan a proposal to work unitedly for the party, a leader present in the meeting said.

Raushan asked Quader to withdraw the expulsion orders given by him against the party leaders, including Moshiur Rahman Ranga.

Raushan agreed to work jointly with Quader for strengthening Jatiya Party, Syed Abu Hossain Babala, who was present in the meeting, disclosed at the central conference of Jatiya Chhatra Samaj at the Institution of Engineers auditorium on Tuesday noon.

The differences of opinions were created between GM Quader and Raushan Ershad when Raushan convened 10th national conference of the party in Dhaka on November 26, without the consent of the party chairman. Later, the conference was cancelled.

Raushan returned from Thailand on November 26, after five months of taking treatments in a hospital there.

A team of the party leaders received her in Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka on November 27 and Raushan now living in Westin hotel.

Raushan went to Thailand on November 5, 2021, when she was suffering from respiratory complications and was admitted to a Bangkok hospital for treatment.

Raushan Ershad had returned to the county on June 27 but returned to Thailand again after staying some days in the country.

Jatiya Party faced crisis when Raushan convened the 10th national conference of the party on November 26.

A top leader of the party, Moshiur Rahman Ranga, took stand in favour of Raushan and JP had expelled him from all of his party posts, including opposition chief whip in the parliament.

Finally, Raushan Ershad postponed the November 26 party conference.

The enmity in the party was continuing when the members of parliament of the JP handed over a letter to the Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on October 30 to elect deputy leader of the parliament Ghulam Muhammad Quader as the leader of the opposition.
