Rangpur records 25.28pc Covid-19 positivity Friday

Rangpur division recorded 25.28 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as 91 fresh cases were diagnosed after testing 360 samples at two laboratories in the division on Friday.

 Health officials said the pandemic situation is showing an almost stable trend during the last couple of days despite community spread of the lethal virus continuing in the division in recent weeks. 

Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 26.88 percent on Thursday, 27.22 on Wednesday, 27.07 percent on Tuesday 33.05 percent on Monday, 31.73 percent on Sunday and 36.90 percent on Saturday last in the division. Among the 91 new patients, 45 were reported positive after testing 172 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) at the 26.16 percent positivity rate on Friday. “The 45 new patients include 20 from Rangpur, 10 from Lalmonirhat, seven from Gaibandha, six from Kurigram and one each from Thakurgaon and Nilphamari districts,” said Principal of RpMC Professor Dr Bimal Chandra Roy.

 On the other hand, 46 new patients were reported positive after testing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at the 23.94 percent positivity rate today.

 “The 46 new patients include 34 from Dinajpur, 12 from Nilphamari, one each from Panchagarh and Thakurgaon districts,” said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain.

   Divisional Director (Health) Dr Abu Md Zakirul Islam said that the total number of Covid-19 patients reached 62,910 as 99 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

 “The district-wise break up of total 62,910 patients include 14,654 in Rangpur, 4,303 in Panchagarh, 5,294 in Nilphamari, 3,187 in Lalmonirhat, 4,921 in Kurigram, 8,497 in Thakurgaon, 16,567 in Dinajpur and 5,387 in Gaibandha in the division,” he added..
