Rangpur division recorded 24.51 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as 88 fresh cases were diagnosed after testing 359 samples at two laboratories in the division on Friday.
Health officials said a community spread of the Covid-19 virus continues during the last three weeks across the division.
Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 38.80 percent on Thursday, 38.98 percent on Wednesday, 46.01 percent on Tuesday, 41.87 percent on Monday, 41.82 percent on Sunday and 53.31 percent on Saturday last in the
division.
Among the 88 new patients, 50 were reported positive after testing 171 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) at the 29.24 percent positivity rate on Friday.
“The 50 new patients include 28 from Rangpur, seven from Gaibandha, nine from Lalmonirhat, five from Kurigram and one from Nilphamari districts,” said Principal of RpMC Professor Dr Bimal Chandra Roy.
On the other hand, 38 new patients were reported positive after testing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at the 20.21 percent positivity rate today.
“The 38 new patients include 35 from Dinajpur and three from Panchagarh districts,” said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain. Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Abu Md. Zakirul Islam said that the total number of Covid-19 patients reached 61,156 as 88 new positive cases were reported on Friday from across the division.
“The district-wise break up of 61,156 patients stands at 14,090 in Rangpur, 4,181 in Panchagarh, 5,103 in Nilphamari, 3,060 in Lalmonirhat, 4,856 in Kurigram, 8,366 in Thakurgaon, 16,231 in Dinajpur and 5,269 in Gaibandha in the division,” he said.
