Covid-19 deaths below 100 for third day in a row

Bangladesh registered 94 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Monday, taking the total number of deaths to 26,109.   

The country recorded 3,724 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,497,261, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday.

The death rate now stands at 1.74 percent in the country, added the release. 

The current positivity rate stands at 12.07 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 16.82 percent. 

Among the 94 deceased, 49 were men, and 45 were women. Of the victims, 93 died in different hospitals across the country and one died at home.

43 of the deceased were from Dhaka division, 27 from Chattogram, seven from Sylhet, six from Rajshahi, five from Khulna, four from Mymensingh and one each were from Barisal, and Rangpur division.  

A total of 30,855 samples were tested across the country till 8am Monday. 

During this period 6,186 Covid-19 patients have recovered. Up until now, a total of 1,421,883 people have recovered from the virus and the recovery rate stands at 94.97 percent.  

As of Monday, 4,517,926 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 217,359,913 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
