Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) is going to hand over Tk 3.14 crore to 314 former members of various militant outfits, who have returned to the normal life after surrendering to the anti-crime elite force, for their rehabilitation purposes.
ANM Imran Khan, Assistant Director of RAB Legal and Media Wing on Monday said each of them will be provided with Tk one lakh.
The RAB official further said Director General (DG) of the RAB M Khurshid Hossain will hand over cheque among the former militants at RAB-12 Headquarters in Sirajganj Tuesday.
The 314 former militants of Tangail, Sirajganj, Pabna, Bogura, Kushtia, Meherpur and Rajbari surrendered to the force in presence of Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal in Sirajganj with 200 firearms and huge bullets on May 21 this year.
After that, the RAB DG sought the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s assistance for the employment of the surrendered people.
Then, Tk 3.14 crore was given from Prime Minister’s Relief and Welfare Fund, said Imran.
The cheques will be distributed among the individuals, he added.
