Rapid Action Battalion(RAB) rescued abducted new born baby after seven days of abduction.
The anti-crime elite force also arrested two alleged kidnappers in this connection.
The arrested were primarily identified as MdRubel Sheikh,35 and his wife Tania Afroz,23.
RAB Legal and Media Wing Director Commander Khandaker Al Moin on Saturday at a press briefing at RAB Media Centre in the capital Dhaka disclosed it.
“We rescued the abducted new born and arrested the kidnappers from Abhaynagar Upazila of Jessore district on Friday night. During the primary interrogation, the arrested admitted that they kidnapped the baby to free themselves of loan,”MrMoin said.
Victim MiliAkter hails from Pathanpara area under Rajarhat Upazila of Kurigram district. She was working as domestic help at different houses inDhulivita area of DhamraiUpzila in Dhaka district. As the arrested couple were also living in the same area in Dhamrai, they were familiar with victim Mili. Rubel addressed her as maternal aunt.
On February 19, Mili gave birth to a baby boy in Dhamrai Upazila Health Complex. On February 26, accused Rubel and his wife Tania came to meet Mili at he rented house. Mili was sick. She left her house to buy medicine keeping her baby under the custody of the arrested couple.
After twenty minutes, she returned to her house and found saw that Rubel and Mili left the house taking her new born baby. Later,Mili went to the house of Rubel. But Milifound his room under lock and key. Later,Rubel demanded Tk 1 lakh as ransom, otherwise threatened to kill the baby.
Getting the information, RAB intensified its vigilance and traced the masterminds.
During the primary interrogation, Rubel admitted that as the new born’s health was deteriorating in absence of its mother, the kidnapper planned to kill the baby by dumping into river.
However, RAB finally rescued the baby and arrested the kidnappers from Abhaynagar Upazila of Jessore district on Friday night.
