The anti-crime elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Sunday night nabbed a fugitive convict of the sensational murder of Bishwajit Das.

The arrestee had been sentenced to death in the gruesome killing in 2013. He was identified as Nur-e-Alam Limon. RAB arrested him from the city's Mohammadpur area on Sunday night.

The death-row convict was on the run for 10 years, Senior Assistant Director (Media) of RAB-2 Fazlul Haque told Bangladesh Post on Monday afternoon.

During his primary interrogation, the convicted criminal admitted his involvement in the murder. We are verifying important information obtained from him, the RAB official added. Tailoring shop employee Bishwajit was chopped to death by some BCL activists near Bahadur Shah Park in Old Dhaka during the BNP-led alliance's countrywide road blockade program on December 9 in 2012.

A tribunal sentenced eight BCL activists to death and 13 others, including Abdullah, to life imprisonment in the murder case on December 18 in 2013

The High Court upheld the death sentences of Rafiqul Islam Shakil and Rajon Talukder and commuted the capital punishment of four other convicts — Mahfuzur Rahman Nahid, Emdadul Haque Emdad, GM Rasheduzzaman Shawon and — Nur-e-Alam Limon to life term on August 6 in 2017.
