Law enforcers on Saturday foiled a conspiracy to create anarchy at a hospital in a bid to create panic among mass people. They also came to know that the deep rooted conspiracy was planned by an Interpol wanted Bangladeshi terrorist.
Rapid Action Battalion finally arrested a close associated of most wanted top terror Jisan, from the city. He was identified as Mazharul Islam Shakil.
RAB Legal and Media Wing Director Lt Col Sarwar Bin Kashem confirmed it while addressing a press briefing in the city. Getting secret information, a team of RAB-2 raided Mohamamdpur Bus Stand area on Saturday morning.
When Shakil arrived at Mohammadpur Bus Stand on a CNG run auto rickshaw at around 5:10 am, RAB intercepted the vehicle. After searching , RAB detained Shakil.
The elite force also seized two foreign pistols , two magazines and six bullets from his possession. During the primary interrogation, he admitted that he was involved in extortion for a long time on behalf of Jisan.
He started student politics after admitting himself into Jaganath University in 2005. Later he engaged in city politics. In 2009, he also involved in tender manipulating in various government organizations. He returned back to his own home district in 2013, but he returned back to the capital in 2015.
A dispute was created with arrested Jubo League leader Khaled Mahmood Bhuyian. At one stage, JL leader Rajib was murdered. He was accused in the case. Within five days of Rajib murder, he left the country for China. He lived there till 2017 and worked for cargo services there.
In 2018, he went to Dubai. He was in Dubai till January 2020. During his stay in Dubai, he became close with top terrorist Jisan. He worked as a labour broker in favour of Jisan.
He lived in a building with Jisan. Jisan plans and executes his terrorist activities from the building in association with his cohorts in Dhaka.
Shakil returned to Bangladesh on January 12 on the order of his big boss. He was admitted into a hospital. He planned to create anarchy at the hospital to create panic among the people. But RAB foiled the plan.
