Prudent money management, savings habit needed for future financial security

Experts say at DIU-NSDA ‘Global Money Week’ programme

Experts at a discussion session highlighted the significance of prudent money management and savings habits during the early stage of life, particularly during the formative years of student for a better future financial security.

Daffodil International Univrsity and Bangladesh Skill Development Institute (BSDI) jointly organized the session in celebrations of Global Money Week 2024 with a vibrant closing ceremony held Monday. 

The week-long event, which commenced on March 18th and ran through March 24th, aimed to promote financial literacy, money management, and savings among students through various engaging activities. Throughout the week, a series of activities including video making and poster designing competitions, all centered on the themes of money making and savings were organized. 

These initiatives were designed to instill crucial financial skills in the youth, empowering them to navigate their financial futures with confidence. The closing ceremony featured two insightful panel discussions and speakers from various sectors sharing their expertise on financial inclusion, money management, and the significance of savings, particularly during student life. 

Iqbal Mohasin, Director of the Financial Inclusion Department at Bangladesh Bank, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the importance of financial literacy in shaping a prosperous future.

Other notable speakers included Siddhartho Goshwami, Senior Consultant and Head of Operations at the ICT Division, Debasish Roy, Private Sector Partnership Specialist at UNDP Bangladesh, Professor Dr. Mohammed Masum Iqbal, Dean of Business Administration at Daffodil International University, Mohammad Nuruzzaman, Group CEO of Daffodil Family, and K M Hasan Ripon, Country Director & Focal Point of Global Money Week 2024.
